Powder days in the Caucasus

Georgia is fast becoming Europe's most exciting freeride destination.

Featured Resorts

Where to ride

Three resorts cover the full range.

GudauriFreeride capital

Gudauri

Wide, treeless bowls above 2,000 m, a long lift system, easy access from Tbilisi and lift tickets that cost less than a pizza in Chamonix. Heli- and cat-skiing on tap if your bank balance allows.

All levels Dec – early Apr

Stay in upper Gudauri for ski-in/ski-out access. February gets the most reliable powder.

BakurianiFamily-friendly slopes

Bakuriani

Soviet-era forest resort that's reinvented itself with new gondolas and groomed pistes. The widest beginner terrain in Georgia and a lively little town within walking distance.

Beginner – intermediate Dec – Mar

Cheaper rentals and lessons than Gudauri — perfect first ski trip with kids or beginners.

Mestia / TetnuldiWild Svaneti

Mestia / Tetnuldi

High-alpine freeride above the medieval towers of Mestia. Empty pistes, untracked off-piste days after every storm and views of Ushba and Tetnuldi rising 5,000 m straight from the valley.

Advanced Jan – Mar

Hire a local guide for off-piste — avalanche danger is real and signage is minimal.
